The Big Red Snow Plough
Several years ago in the winter of 1999, Ananda and I lived in a little town called Perth, Ontario in Canada. We had a rather large home in the middle of ten acres and our driveway was 800 feet from the road.
During the winter in that region of the country a routine snowfall would be called a blizzard in a major city. One morning we woke up to a beautiful clear sky, crisp clean air and two feet plus of snow on the ground. Our driveway could no longer be seen.
Here’s where it starts to get interesting. The man who usually removed the snow for us was in the hospital; he worked independently so there was no back up to send to his clients. We took another look outside and began to get a bit of cabin fever. The situation was a little dis-heartening now that we realized we were stranded.
Feeling a little frazzled, I suggested to Ananda that we look in the yellow pages right away and find a snow ploughing company. At first we were not too certain of the outcome since the small town we lived in had limited snow removal equipment to handle the area and they were usually fully booked, especially on the day after a large snowfall.
She thought for a moment, then a look came across her face, the kind she often gets that means inner guidance is coming through. A moment later she responded with her intuitive insight and her defining giggle.
"Why don’t we manifest a snowplough to show up?"
I hesitated for a moment, even though we had been teaching The Law of Attraction for many years. Maybe it was the immediacy of the idea. I'm not sure what made me waver, anyway, I finally said okay and we agreed on 2:00 pm as the target for this to occur.
NOTE: When teaching people how to manifest we have never encouraged putting a time factor on desire. However, Ananda's intuitive insight inspired both of us this one time to make an exception to the rule. Besides, we both wanted to get out into the beautiful day and play a little.
Ananda and I then went upstairs to our offices to begin our day's work. Caught up in what I was doing, I honestly forgot that we had intended a snowplough to show up. I headed downstairs and made us both a cup of tea. As I walked past the front door I glanced at the blanket of snow that covered our driveway and called upstairs to Ananda.
"We need to call a snow plough company!"
She immediately replied, "Do you not trust?"
It was then I remembered the intention we had agreed upon. I went back upstairs to my office and once again forgot about it. Then, at 2:05 pm - I remember the exact time because of what happened next - I got up to stretch and walked over to the huge round window that was the highlight of our offices. The window had a perfect view of the front yard and the driveway as it wound its way around evergreen trees to the main road. As I looked out I saw what seemed like an illusion.
My jaw dropped! There, half way up the driveway was a beautiful, glossy red snow plough. It had obviously been there for at least five minutes, ploughing merrily away. Ananda spotted my expression from her office and thought I was having some sort of vision. I was literally beaming in joy. She rushed over to me, and when she saw what I was looking at screamed in delight.
"You see, it works every time! "no doubting Thomas' live here!" She giggled.
Of course she was right! I had a moment of doubt about what I have been teaching for over 35 years. Her knowing took precedence over my doubt. But the story doesn't end there. When the driver finished his last section and cleared all the snow at the end of the driveway, he just left. He left no invoice, no note and no contact information of any kind…and we never heard from him again.
The snowplough just appeared and did what we designed it to do. No effort, no cost - belief empowered by passion! It works every time.
